Mambo Jambo is an urban music group from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, mixing styles like Hip-Hop, Zouk, Dance Hall, Traditional music, Pop, etc. in their music.

They first emerged into the East African music scene in year 2001 with their hit single "Hip-Hop Mdundiko", which was a mixture of traditional mdundiko rhythm and rap. After a huge success of the song other rap artists also started to introduce traditional elements into their music.

Since then Mambo Jambo has released numerous hit songs, like "Kitobero remix", "Si Mchezo", "Rebecca" etc.

Their latest singles are "Nakupenda" and "Masumbuko". "Nakupenda" (I Love You) is more or less a conventional love song. "Masumbuko" (Troubles, also a male name) is a story of a boy from rural area who turns out to be a heroin addict after moving to the city. Drugs are a serious and growing problem in big African cities.
